Important Announcement:
Closing of Current PATOLIS-e Service at the
end of September 2006 |

As previously announced, PATOLIS-e will be closed down at the end of September 2006.
Please note, however, that substantially the present PATOLIS-e service will only be available until PM11:00*, September 30, 2006 (*JST: GMT+8).
It is due to the system maintenance on the PATOLIS main system held between PM11:00*, September 30, 2006 and PM9:00, October 1, 2006. We truly apologize for this inconvenience.
From October 1, 2006 onwards, your User ID (UID) will no longer allow direct access to PATOLIS-e, yet Legal Status records (intermediate records) of PATOLIS-e will be available in the following two methods. We hope that you will find one of these methods suitable and reasonable for your needs on JP patent/utility model information.
1. Legal Status Information Service by Agents
The present agents, European Patent Office and Questel.Orbit, continue to serve as PATOLIS-e LS Information Brokers. Customers send their request to an agent by specifying the Japanese application/document numbers of their interest. The agent implements DocNoSearch on behalf and reports the result to the customers.
2. Gateway Service provided by Service Provider
This will be the only online service for PATOLIS-e information after September 30, 2006. Our today’s agent Questel.Orbit will prepare two kinds of online services which provide PATOLIS-e legal status and bibliographic information. Those who wish to use these services need to have a service contract between Questel.Orbit.
a. Number Search Service [Available from October 1, 2006]
A number searching page will be provided by Questel.Orbit. The following 2 display formats will be available:
- Bibliographic information, Abstract**, Drawing, Legal Status
[equivalent of current display format P803]
- Bibliographic information, Legal Status, Viability information
[equivalent of current display format P807]
b. Linking from Records Displays [Available from the beginning of 2007]
Access to PATOLIS-e information from records displays within Qweb, one of Questel.Orbit’s Services, will be made available. The details of this service are to be announced

We regret to announce that
THE CURRENT PATOLIS-e SERVICE WILL BE CLOSED
AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER 2006.
The present subscribers will no longer be
able to access PATOLIS-e directly from October
1, 2006 onwards.
Please note, however, we decided to continue
providing customers the most-valued Legal
Status records (intermediate records)* of
PATOLIS-e via our agents.
From October 1, 2006, the Legal Status records
will be available in the following
two methods:
1. Legal Status Information Service by Agents
Customers can obtain LS records
for Japanese
applications of their request
via PATOLIS
agents, by simply specifying
the application/document
numbers.The present agents,
Questel.Orbit
and European Patent Office,
continue to serve
as PATOLIS-e Information Brokers
after September
30, 2006.
2. Gateway Service provided by Service Provider
You will also be able to access PATOLIS-e
LS information from our service provider's
interface. The release date of this service
is not yet determined at this moment, yet
our today's agent Questel.Orbit is making
efforts to start this service as early as
possible. Please watch further announcements
from us.
